![]() Whack it through a multi effects unit and it'll probably sound as good as any other guitar and if any muso purist snob ever says anything about it not being a Fender.ignore them. I would happily take this guitar and gig it and it would be one of my 'go to' guitars at home for jamming. I cannot believe the quality on offer here for the price, the difference in a budget guitar nowadays to when I first started is like chalk & cheese. Learn the basics then ignore all the books and poncey metal players.create your own style and do your own thing. I'm not a musical snob at all and I'm a firm believer in DIY, pick up a guitar learn a few chords as best you can and get out there a thrash some tunes. I simply could not believe the level of 'playability' on offer.and right out of the box. ![]() In fact I loved it so much I had a hard job putting it down, it handled every style I threw at it. ![]() Ok it has a cheapish plastic scratch plate, the knobs are cheap, hmmm don't really need a whammy bar (leave that out of the bridge is my advice) the pickups are obviously not the best (I haven't tested these yet) but the neck felt great, the machine heads were smooth enough and held everything in tune, it's lighweight and the overall balance felt perfect and more importantly it played really well.and I mean it was excellent. The neck was true, the intonation was absolutely perfect, the action was nice and low, no sharp edges on the frets, all frets were even with no buzz anywhere, the bridge was perfectly placed and it played brilliantly. Now I'll say it again, I wasn't expecting was blown away. I wasn't expecting much but I hoped with minimal set up that it would suffice. Suddenly this Encore came up at a ridiculously cheap price so I grabbed it. Things are constantly changing in the budget line so I read plenty of user reviews as well as viewing plenty of Youtube offerings. The mission was to purchase an electric guitar for a beginner. I've been a guitarist for just over 40 years now (thanks to Punk) I'm not the best but I know a thing or two about what's good and what's not, I know what I like and I made a career out of it.
